I always arrive at Red Rocks Amphitheatre early just to enjoy the beauty of the surrounding area and the views from the venue and the venue in itself. I describe Red Rocks to people as, created by nature, refined by man. The venue has been called the number one venue in the USA. People from all over the country come here to see their favorite artist perform here. I have also met people from many European countries. It is a magical place to witness a concert. Lindsey has said, it’s one of my very favorite venues to play in.
The sun was popping in and out of the clouds as people were hustling to their seats and excitement filled the air in anticipation for a night of music with Lindsey Stirling and the artist’s supporting her on this tour. Starting the evening off was Audriix (pronounced “Audrey”) a rising young pop star with a wonderful voice. She started off her set with “Doing it for me” and her voice filled the venue as she moved about the stage engaging with the audience and her bandmates. She has remarked that her songs come from personal experience and wanting to empower people. Throughout her set, she poured out her passion and emotions through her songs and the wonderful response from the crowd grew with each song. She closed out her night with the song “Victim” which was released this past March, and she received a wonderful response from the audience. This was my first time seeing Audriix and though I listened to some of her music before the show, seeing her and hearing live was a real pleasure.

With a quick turnover of the stage it was time for Walk off the Earth. Another new band for me that was impressive right from the start of their set. All dressed in white the members of Walk off the Earth wasted no time in taking the energy level to new heights. Right from the start and throughout their set Walk off the Earth was amazing. Each member is multi-talented with different instruments that included a didgeridoo and vocals with a blend of different genres in their music. It was a non-stop set of fun energetic music that had the crowd up and dancing. Watching the band engaging with the crowd and each other on stage with songs, “Gang of Rhythm”, “Red Hands” and “My Stupid Heart” just added to the fun. When they finished their set to a roaring crowd, Sarah Blackwood handed a ukulele to an excited fan in the crowd. For the second time this night, I had the pleasure of seeing and hearing a new band.

As Walk off the Earth were finishing their set, the weather took a nasty turn as a cold wind flowed through the venue with dark skies appearing over the venue. A very light sprinkle of rain started and there was a 15 minute delay to the start of Lindsey Stirlings set. Fortunately the rain stopped and the wind calmed a bit.
The stage was set with a very large block of 6 open squares 3 on top of 3. The lower right square is where drummer Drew Steen sat. The upper left square was where keyboardist and guitarist Ryan Riveros sat. The other blocks were open and the dancers and Lindsey would periodically perform from them.
With a very loud roar from the crowd Lindsey stepped out onto the stage and opened her set with “Eye of the Untold Her”. Wearing a blue top and a pink skirt held up with suspenders Lindsey moved slowly about the stage like she was looking for someone. Actually, she was looking back on her life. Soon, two dancers appeared in the background. One was wearing a long white wig with antlers. The other in a black hooded outfit. Two more dancers would appear and would move about the stage with Lindsey. The outfits the dancers were wearing reflected Lindsey’s past. A not surprisingly powerful opening to her show. See the video below.
Her setlist for this tour is a great mix of her music over many years of her career and makes for a great playlist. This is my 5th time covering her shows and one thing never changes, the level of creativity from tour to tour. From the outfits she wears on stage to the choreographed dancing, from simple aerobatics to the extravagant.
Moving through her set there were many costume changes and as Lindsey would be moving across the stage, her dancers would climb up into the cubes with different outfits and move with the music. During the song “Evil Twin” long red sheets came down and Lindsey wrapped herself in them and rolled up high in them, and then suddenly dropped like a rock to a gentle landing. Lindsey then wrapped her legs in the sheets and rising again with the dancers slowly spun her around while she played her violin. Throughout the amazing setlist of songs, Lindsey and the dancers took their turns flying high in sheets or rings. Lindsey sat in a ring hanging above the stage balancing herself and playing with no harness.
You could ask yourself, what is she going to do next? How about being harnessed and raised up wearing a long beautiful white dress with large blue butterfly wings while she plays her violin. The mixture of music, dancing and aerobatics continued and the reaction from her fans after every song was deafening. Lindsey finished her amazing evening with “Survive”.
This was only the 4th stop on Lindsey’s 44 city tour and I can not recommend highly enough to see her live! I have been following Lindsey for over 10 years and she never stops impressing me with her talent and creativity.
